Panic Attack Symptoms

For some people suffering from anxiety can sometimes lead to them having panic attacks, which can be very disturbing not just for them but those around them. Often these attacks can occur without warning and for some people can happen, whilst they sleep. But often when a person suffers from panic attack symptoms, which we will look at below these, begin to become less as the attack itself begins to subside.

In a large number of cases for those who suffer quite badly from such attacks, they may feel as if they are having a heart attack or they are going to die. But in many of these cases the actual fear, anxiety or terror that they are experiencing at this time is not actually in proportion to their situation they are in. In many cases, their panic attack is totally unrelated to what is happening.

Anyone suffering from panic attacks is likely to experience several of the different symptoms that we mention below. The most of these being as follows:-

  1. A rapid or pounding heartbeat or palpitations.
  2. They begin to sweat more.
  3. They start to shake visibly or they shake inside.
  4. They feel like they are choking, or some feel as if they have a lump in their throat so find it difficult to swallow.
  5. Some feel as if they are being smothers or become short of breath.
  6. They feel as if they are having a heart attack because they feel pain or discomfort in their chest.
  7. Some may feel some discomfort with their stomach including nausea, bloating or indigestion.
  8. They feel light headed which could lead to dizziness or they become unsteady on their feet.
  9. They start to feel if everything around them is not real (derealisation).
  10. For others they may feel as if they do not exist (depersonalisation).
  11. Some people as if they are losing control of their lives of if they are going crazy.
  12. For others they may feel a tingling or numbness (Paresthesias) to their face or extremities (feet and hands) of the body.
  13. While for others they suddenly start to suffer from hot flushes or chills.
  14. Another symptom that some people who have panic attacks may suffer from is they blush or their skin becomes blotchy.

Although some people may experience quite a number of the panic attack symptoms mentioned above it does not mean that their condition is worse than those that just suffer a few. In some, there are people who suffer from some form of anxiety, which does not lead to them suffering from panic attacks, or the symptoms associated with them.
