Stop Panic Attack

A long with learning what may initiate you having a panic attack it is important that a person learns also how to stop panic attacks when they do occur. Today once a person has been diagnosed with suffering from this particular anxiety disorder they will often be offered various different treatments to deal with them.

Today you have the choice between medication and use of therapy or relaxation techniques to help not only control but prevent a further panic attack occurring. Below we offer you a very simple method of helping to stop the attack in a few minutes. We offer you four steps which you may want to try in order to help you control an attack in the future.

Step 1 – You need to learn to relax and to do this you need to start to learn about taking deep, slow and complete breaths. By doing this, you are actually helping to calm down your body and bring it back under your control. Taking such deep and slow breaths also helps to slow down the release of adrenalin in the body, which has resulted in you becoming panicked.

Step 2 – You need to stop having negative thoughts. The more negative the thoughts you are having the much more difficult you will find it to bring your panic attack under control. A great way of doing this is by shouting in your own mind "Stop" as this will then interrupt the emergency messages that your brain is emitting to the adrenal glands. Doing this allows you a chance to stop those negative thoughts from continuing and helps to get you in a calmer frame of mind.

Step 3 – It is important that you start to learn to use coping statements, which helps you to replace those negative thoughts you are having with much more positive ones. However, the statements you choose should be ones that easily address those negative thoughts and which will then help you become more relaxed and calm.

Step 4 – It is crucial that you learn to identify the emotions you are feeling at the time when an attack occurs. Once you are, able to identify what the emotion is then you can often discover the reason why you are actually feeling the way that you do.

As soon as you are able to identify what is actually causing the emotions of fear or anxiety, which have resulted in the panic attack, you can then go some way to avoiding those situations in the future. Certainly by avoiding situations that are likely to increase your stress or anxiety levels will help to prevent or reduce the risk of you suffering from further attacks in the future.

We hope that the steps with have provided above will help you to stop panic attacks if you should suffer from one in the future. Certainly the more control you have over your mind and body, then the less chances there are of you suffering from such attacks in the future.
